Travel and Street Photography workshops with Maciej Dakowicz
6-12th May 2013
13-19th May 2013
There are two separate week-long street and travel photography workshops in Istanbul available. These intense workshops are intended for four participants each and are mostly practical in application, where the participants will be shooting on a daily basis with both tutors, sharing their experiences and improving photographic approaches and techniques. Shooting will be done in pairs with no large group shootings, eliminating the common problem of other workshops where there are too many people trying to shoot the same subject. Each day Maciej and David will be shooting with one different participant each and the other two participants will shoot together (so there will be three pairs of us). The day begins with breakfast where we will discuss our shooting plans and later meet for lunch, where we will make some preliminary reviews and exchange pairings for the afternoon session. At the end of the evening, there will be a more detailed editing and feedback session followed by more informal discussions over supper and drinks. As the week progresses, David and Maciej will both give presentations that demonstrate the various approaches of story telling and editing your work. Apart from daytime travel and street photography the aspects of night photography will also be explored, where there will be two evenings of shooting Istanbul after dark.
We suggest the participants arrive the day before the workshop if possible, so we start in the morning of the first day. Also staying a couple days longer in Istanbul after the workshop to use the new knowledge and skills is a very good idea.
£575 per person
Apart from the £575 fee, participants are responsible for their flights, insurance, accommodation, food and other expenses. As a group we will stay in the same hotel and participants can choose between sharing twin rooms or staying in single rooms. A twin room should cost about 30 Euros per person per day. The flights to Istanbul are affordable at the moment and a return flight from London can be had for around £150 from Southalltravel.co.uk.
